Homeopathy and You: Staying Alive and Thriving

You know that inner response inside you that never really goes away when a child in a public place hollers, “Mo-o-m-mmmm”? You instinctively go on alert and respond from the gut. Never makes sense when your ‘kids’ are 30-something, but it’s something that has stayed with me all these years!

HERE’S THE HOLLER
If the Vaccine Free: Now What? teleseminar course is calling your name, tugging on your shirt tails like a ‘mom-I-want-your-attention-kind-of-kid-in-a-mall’…good news! We have room for you and three others. Good to bring a friend, and you can keep the conversation going post phone call!

Your presence in the group could be just what is needed to have some great conversations about how to keep your kids healthy in the midst of the many outbreaks of infectious illness that are happening in small pockets (endemic) all over North America (more on the outbreaks below).

MOM/GRAMMA WISDOM – FROM THE GUT
There is a tremendous amount of mom and gramma wisdom out there, and in the past, our groups have shared some very effective ‘home remedies’ that have been great helps, along with homeopathic at home care. One of the perks of joining the course is a Facebook forum where we can help in real time when one of our kids is sick.

You have until tonight to click that register button…still time! And remember, you have the choice to pay by installment. Whew! A bit of financial relief too.

KEEPING HOMEOPATHY ALIVE AND THRIVING
One of the books recommended that is often referred to in the VFNW course is Homoeopathy in Epidemic Disease by Dr. Dorothy Shepherd. She saw plenty of kids in the emergency department in the 1950’s who had all kinds of infectious illnesses…and homeopathy was what she used to help heal. Dr. Shepherd firmly believed that if homeopathy was to be a medicine of the future, its success relied on the knowledge and ‘practice’ of the art by lay people and skilled practitioners.

“Dorothy Shepherd always felt that much of the future of Homoeopathy lay in the hands of the ordinary man – in – the – street. By his demand for safer alternative medication in his time of need, when hope was well nigh lost, the homoeopathic art would be kept alive by those doctors and intelligent lay practitioners who truly sought to heal the sick.”
~ Gweneth E. Robinson, introduction to Shepard’s book More Magic of the Minimum Dose

Dr. Shepherd is right. There are some exceptional, intelligent, thinking moms, who are very skilled practitioners/scientists keeping homeopathy alive and thriving.

You can be one of those skilled lay people too. Homeopathy will prevail simply because it is such an elegant, non-toxic, gentle, environmentally sustainable form of complementary healing…subtle medicine in a world that is toxic, inside and out.

QUICK UPDATE ON THE POCKETS OF OUTBREAKS
There are regular posts of current news events on the Powers of Homeopathy Facebook page, but here is a quick summary of what is ‘in the news’ of late regarding outbreaks of infectious childhood illnesses, even in the vaccinated (and sometimes heavily vaccinated population). Vaccination is NOT immunization and there is no guarantee whether you or your child will catch whatever is going around.

Remember…all these illnesses are covered in the VFNW course. Am I a pessimist-doom-and-gloom end-of-the-world-apocalyptic-disease-filled-world person? Nah…I’m not even a survivalist, although, at the risk of too much information, we do keep extra toilet paper and candles on hand. I prefer to regard the course as a healthy dose of ‘in case-of’ and ‘be prepared.’ Me? I am pretty much an optimist even in the most dire of circumstances. No toilet paper? There are always other options. Necessity and the necessary are the mother of invention.

Homeopathy is simple, inexpensive—and even in an apocalypse, you could make your own remedies!

Mumps

“Students are now required to show their vaccination receipts for mumps, measles and rubella virus before entering the campus. The University officials have placed more hand sanitizers in its communal restrooms to enhance cleanliness.

The University officials believe the virus is contained but they are advising students who experience disease symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes in the neck or ears and pain while chewing or swallowing to visit doctors immediately.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the symptoms usually start to reveal itself after 16-18 days of infection. Sometimes serious complications arise but they are rare.

Medical professionals and agencies have been unable to find cure for the mumps. The University officials said that mumps vaccinations do not promise 100 percent immunity.

“All of the students who were tentatively diagnosed with mumps had been vaccinated,” the university said. “Vaccinations do not offer 100 percent protection,” New York Post reports.

Measles

“Are the recently reported measles outbreaks in the U.S. being caused by the failure to vaccinate, or the failure of the vaccine? Shockingly, clinically confirmed reports of measles vaccine failure in fully vaccinated populations stretch back a quarter of a century from around the world.”

Polio
The most recent journal article has been about the ‘polio-like paralysis’ in California. History repeats itself. In VFNW there is LOTS to share about this disease.

“[Polio now hides behind these names: acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), Transverse Myelitis, Viral or aseptic meningitis, Guillaine Barre Syndrome (GBS), Chinese Paralytic syndrome, CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME, epidemic cholera, cholera morbus, spinal meningitis, spinal apoplexy, inhibitory palsy, intermittent fever, famine fever, worm fever, bilious remittent fever, ergotism, ME, post-polio syndrome, Synonyms for GBS]”

Polio-like Virus – Acute Flaccid Paralysis

“There is a profound distinction between poliovirus – an enterovirus, one that enters through the mouth and takes up residence in the GI tract and bloodstream – and poliomyelitis, the paralytic form of the illness. In the vast majority of cases, the virus causes either a minor illness or an inapparent infection.

But in 1 or 2 in 100 cases, the virus somehow gets past multiple defenses and into the nervous system, where it finds its way to the anterior horn cells at the top front of the spinal column. There it preferentially attacks the gray-colored motor neurons (polio means gray in Greek) and causes inflammation of the protective myelin sheath (myelitis). This interferes with nerve signals to the muscles and can lead to temporary or permanent paralysis of the limbs and the respiratory system. A small number of people who contract poliomyelitis — on the order of 1 percent — die.”
