What is the best homeopathic medicine for UTI? The 3 most often used remedies

Whether you call it a UTI, bladder infection or cystitis the experience is always the same – distress and misery! Homeopathic medicine for UTI is often considered for those ready to break the cycle of recurrent infections or who wish to avoid antibiotic treatment and destroying your microbiome.

UTI questions from a medical professional

A good friend, a conventional medical professional working in a hospital setting, posed this question to me just a couple of weeks ago after colleagues on break, were describing their recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI) brought on by baths, riding a bike, sex, swimming…so many triggers.

Some of them even said that they are now resistant to some of the antibiotics, which is very serious. (MRSA infections – staphylococcus and necrotizing fasciitis). Colleagues were saying that they were saving money to go to Europe to get an experimental mRNA ‘vaccine’ (it is a spray not a needle injection) because Health Canada has not yet approved the MV140 (Uromune – The Uromune®, a sublingual, heat-inactivated, polybacterial vaccine, represents a promising therapeutic alternative by enhancing immune responses against uropathogens) spray.

Ironically, one of the four bacterial strains that is in the experimental spray is a deactivated Escherichia coli, a bacterium that has been ‘proven’ by homeopaths with healthy people.

What is a homeopathic proving?

“From the German Prufung, hyganthropharmacology the process of determining the medicinal/curative properties of a substance. This process involves the administration of substances either in crude form (e.g. herbals) or in potency (diluted in a homeopathic pharmaceutical process) to healthy human subjects in order to observe and record symptoms. A test of the action of a drug upon the healthy body, and a record of the unusual sensations/symptoms produced and/or alterations from the normal health experienced by one taking the drug.”

Homeopathy is not one size fits all

Many people expect homeopathy to be prescribed as doctors do traditional pharmaceuticals. But that is not how it works.

A homeopathic remedy is chosen specific to you. The remedy for you with a bladder infection may be completely different to one that is effective for your sister with the same complaint. This is often why people are disappointed and find the first remedy they try doesn’t work even if it worked for someone they know.

As an example, think of the effect of coffee on some people. One person has one cup, and they are super charged and unable to sleep at night! Other people can drink up to 10 cups a day and still sleep soundly.

My grandmother, who lived to be 104, would wake in the middle of the night, drink a very strong cup of black coffee, eat an onion sandwich and go back to bed and sleep like a baby!

Individual responses to food, drink, herbals, and condiments are what make us individual and unique (think table salt and white sugar – cravings for substances that affect us). Homeopathy is always individualizing the best remedy for the person. It is never one size fits all.

Medical or Homeopathic solutions for cystitis/UTI’s?

In the medical world there is an experimental mRNA spray (Uromune) being developed for UTI’s and it has been approved in Europe but not tested long enough in Canada for approval yet. It contains:

“…equal percentages of selected strains of four bacterial species (V121 Escherichia coli, V113 Klebsiella pneumoniae, V125 Enterococcus faecalis, and V127 Proteus vulgaris) (Table 1). MV140 is administered daily sublingually by spraying two sprays of 100 µL each, under the tongue for 3 months.” PubMed Central

By contrast the Colibacillinum or Homeopathic E coli remedy, was introduced by Vannier in 1953. This homeopathic remedy has been around since then and used with success without all the additional adjuvants, contaminants and additives “allowed” in typical medical preventive treatments.

Below is a quote from a literature review of the “Homeopathic Approach to the Management of Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections” published in the Journal of Urology and Renal Diseases

“Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (rUTI) affect nearly 10% of women, significantly damaging their quality of life and inducing major health costs. Successive antibiotic therapies disrupt the saprophytic flora, select germs and promote the emergence of antibiotic resistance. Homeopathy, a medical therapy devoid of major side effects, presenting no risk of overdosing, addiction or interference with conventional treatments, could represent a complementary approach to conventional treatments in an integrative methodology. Certain in vitro and in vivo studies suggest that Colibacillinum and Cantharis would be medicines best suited for the curative and preventive treatment of RUTI. However, most publications of clinical cases of RUTI, which were successfully treated with homeopathy, report the need to individualise homeopathic treatment according to each patient rather than their disease.

Recurrent UTI’s can be demoralizing.

I certainly understand how distressing a UTI is, never mind a recurring one. I had never had a UTI…until I had one! It was awful and I seriously believe that I am given these experiences as a homeopath, to truly experience and understand the urgency of simply wanting to ‘get rid of the infection’. I did get over the infection and let’s just say, I have a great deal of sympathy now for women (men and children too) who experience recurrent infections. Desperation makes us do all kinds of things! Like trying an experimental spray.

As with any vaccine or experimental medical treatment, I would encourage readers to be familiar with the product monograph and read it for its safety or adverse effects. There must be freedom to choose and safety for any medical intervention.

Perhaps, just a suggestion, before anyone saves up to travel overseas to get the experimental Uromune spray, try homeopathy first. Safe, effective and more affordable than a trip to Europe! Although, one could see the homeopath and still go to Europe for a more adventurous reason!

Here are 3 top remedies for urinary tract infections – whether infant, child, female, male, elderly. If the symptom picture of the homeopathic remedy is similar to the symptom picture of the person, the body’s innate ability to self-heal will be stimulated and recover from the infection.

Top 3 homeopathic medicine for UTI

1. Colibacillinum: Best Homeopathic Medicine for UTI caused by E.Coli infection

Research for homeopathic medicine for UTI

Literature Review

“The search engines used in the literature search for this study are Google scholar and PubMed. A blind, randomised, placebo-controlled study investigated the effects of one of the most commonly used symptomatic homeopathic medicines in acute cystitis: Cantharis in a dilution of 6c (10 -12), on cystitis induced by E. coli in an experimental model in female BALB/c mice [11].

The action of Cantharis is also underlined by a clinical case published in 2018, concerning febrile E. coli cystitis in a 4-month-old child, successfully treated with Cantharis 30c, three times a day. Complete disappearance of symptoms and leukocyturia was achieved in 7 days without antibiotics prescription [12].”

“Because of congenital birth defects and after many reconstructive surgeries I’ve struggled with recurrent UTIs my whole life. When I developed another antibiotic resistant intense one recently I was understandably uncomfortable and discouraged.

After a lengthy discussion with my homeopath, I tried the two homeopathic remedies that were recommended to me. While my UTIs can be unpredictable, I did notice a marked improvement and some relief in my symptoms after using them. I appreciated having someone truly listen to my concerns, offer support and supportive care to try during a difficult flare up. It’s been about 5 months without an infection. I currently have a UTI now but I will contact my homeopath for support.” L.S.

  1. Being familiar with homeopathy & using all the natural ways of treating including Cantharis, had recurrent UTI for 6 months & 6 courses of different antibiotics, finally got better after listening to Dr. Ardis podcast on UTI, relating the number of antibiotics that actually result in UTI, plus giving solutions, which he has on his website. I used his method and now 4 months later no recurrence. Basically Black cumin seed oil, Vit D3, K2, NAC, and selenium, protocol on his website. TheDr.ArdisShow.com. I was not on any medications prior to initial infection.
