Homeopathy for perimenopause: an interview with Bella Amberiadis

I first met Bella at a gathering at my home where I invited local homeopaths to come, meet each other and get connected with the local homeopathic practitioners’ community. All too often, private practice can feel isolating and it is so important that we meet together as colleagues to continue supporting and inspiring each other. Which is why we do these interviews – so you can meet these exceptional healers and know them too!

Bella is an enterprising young woman – home schooling her children, connecting with nature and offering her wisdom as she goes through the significant changes and challenges of life’s hormonal challenges! She does it all elegantly and resourcefully!  Please read on as Bella shares her insights and wisdom on homeopathy for perimenopause…

Introducing homeopath Bella Amberiadis

Tell us about your work with women navigating perimenopause…

Bella: I began my journey into perimenopause a few years ago, not knowing initially what was going on. Once I had that frame of reference, I studied and learned more about the physiology of perimenopause and the mental/emotional side. I work with my homeopath, and I’ve made many lifestyle changes, all of which have provided a lot of relief from my symptoms and the opportunity to learn more about myself and who I am in the process.

Through all this, I saw the gifts that perimenopause offers. I want to help other women gain as much as they can from perimenopause. And to feel better along the way.

How effective is homeopathy for perimenopause?

Bella: Homeopathy for perimenopause is very effective! I’ve had many clients whose symptoms have improved and whose energy has returned; their cycles have balanced, their mood has stabilized, and they just feel better. Incorporating lifestyle changes makes the shift even more noticeable.

Because homeopathy looks at the whole person, and not just single symptoms/diagnoses, clients will often experience improvement with multiple symptoms. The key is to understand that health is possible when we invest time and resources into ourselves; there is no single pill that truly provides healing. It’s a whole mind-body effort.

What do you wish every woman going through perimenopause knew?

Bella:

  1. Perimenopause is a gift, not a curse. It shows us where we have neglected ourselves and where we need to focus on ourselves.
  2. Lifestyle (nutrition, exercise, toxic load & mindset) plays a huge role in how we feel during perimenopause and after. We need to recognize that we have to change how we live if we want to feel better.
  3. Healing takes time. Many of our symptoms are here because of a lifetime of challenges and imbalances, so it makes sense that we need to put in time and really commit to ourselves if we want to be improved.

Does homeopathy work alongside conventional perimenopause treatments like HRT or antidepressants?

Bella: The beauty of homeopathy is that it works alongside other modalities. Remedies do not contraindicate medications and can assist the body in healing itself while one takes these. Often clients will feel better and then they discuss medication changes with their doctor.

The key factor here is that someone wants to reduce/go off their medication as their long-term goal. Any remedies and dosing that are selected are done so based on current prescriptions.

You describe your approach as “Modern Classical” homeopathy. What does that mean?

Bella: Classical homeopathy is the foundation of how I practice. This means one remedy that best fits most symptoms that are currently present. This remedy gives the body a needed boost to continue to heal/rebalance itself. And the world now is very complex. We encounter numerous toxic substances and stresses.

To even better support the system, I often utilize (as needed individually) additional remedies. These include organ support remedies, bowel nosodes (for the gut/microbiome), sarcodes/nosodes (for specific hormonal/systemic imbalances) and homeopathic detox/clearing (to help remove blocks from previous exposure to substances such as antibiotics, birth control, steroids, mold etc.).

Together, the Classical and Modern approaches, I feel, really cover all the bases and provide my clients with the best care possible.

What is a homeopathy resource that you love and recommend?

Bella: There isn’t one resource, but I do highly recommend people join various homeopathy groups on Facebook. There are so many wonderful groups run by professional homeopaths who are there to teach and explain homeopathy to their members. It’s a great way to dip your toes into the waters, so to speak, and learn more about how homeopathy can help with a particular issue/condition/diagnosis you might deal with.

How can someone work with you if your philosophy calls to them?

Bella: I offer free discovery calls for prospective clients – these are essential as they provide the client with a chance to share with me what they would like help with; a chance for me to explain how I work in more detail; and a chance for both of us to see if there is a connection. I really feel that trust and confidence are necessary for a great relationship between practitioner and client.
