Homeopathy for migraines and headaches: an interview with Kath Huston

I met Kath Huston a couple of years ago in our little community of homeopaths here in Alberta, she is a dynamo! She is passionate about homeopathy and volunteers in several organizations, she is one of those people who shares generously and is always making a difference.

I took some time recently to interview her about one of her specialities; homeopathy for migraines and headaches, and the deeper emotional and energetic story behind the pain.

Introducing Homeopath Kath Huston

Tell us about your focus on homeopathy for migraines…

Kath: My focus on homeopathy for migraines is rooted in understanding the emotional and energetic story behind the pain. I don’t just look at the physical symptoms. I look at the emotional response that rises with the headache or migraine. For many people, the pain is only the surface expression of a deeper imbalance. So, I explore questions like:

  • Why is this happening?
  • What shifted in your world when your headaches first began?
  • What emotions show up right before the pain?

Migraines often reveal what the person suppresses the rest of the month: irritability, grief, overwhelm, anticipatory anxiety, or a sense of emotional collapse. I pay close attention to those patterns because they’re often the true doorway into healing.

I also work on the spiritual and energetic levels. When someone is in a headache state, you can see the shift in their eyes, their posture, their field. The entire system contracts. I prefer to witness them in that state because it helps me connect directly with the imbalance and understand what their vital force is trying to communicate. To me, a migraine is often the spirit and soul crying for help.

Homeopathy is beautiful for addressing these deeper layers. Remedies can speak directly to the emotional and energetic distortions behind the pain. From there, I integrate Bach flowers and herbal medicine to help rebalance the emotional body, soothe the nervous system, and support the soul’s recovery.

So, my migraine work isn’t just about stopping pain. It’s about understanding the person’s inner landscape and helping their whole system return to harmony.

How effective is homeopathy for migraines and headaches?

Kath: Homeopathy is, truly, by far the most transformative approach I’ve ever seen for headaches and migraines. It doesn’t stop symptoms. Suppression is not what this is. It’s not the pharmaceutical model of quiet the cough, numb the pain, silence the signal.

Homeopathy works with the expression of the spirit, the emotional body, and the deeper energetic patterns that people have trapped, ignored, or pushed down for years, not just the expression of physical symptoms.

Migraines and headaches are rarely just “head pain.” They’re often the physical echo of something happening on the emotional or spiritual level: an imbalance, a pressure, a story trying to surface.

Homeopathy shines because it doesn’t fight that expression. It listens to it, honors it, and helps the system release what’s been stuck in the undercurrent.

When the right remedy meets the right energetic pattern, the shift is profound: the physical pain eases, the emotional charge softens, the spiritual tension unwinds, and the entire system recalibrates.

This is why homeopathy is so effective for migraines and headaches: because it treats the whole person, not the label. It works with the body’s intelligence, not against it. And it finally allows the deeper imbalance to move, speak, and resolve.

Intuitive homeopathy for migraines

What is one thing you wish every person living with migraines knew?

Kath: You are not alone, and you are not broken. Your body and spirit are simply asking to be heard.

Migraines can trick the mind into believing you’re trapped in suffering. Add in Google searches, fear-based stories, and the spiral begins: “I’m suffering… something is wrong… this will never end.” But that spiral isn’t truth. It’s a reaction.

A migraine is not your body punishing you. It’s your system signaling, whispering, sometimes shouting, that something deeper needs attention. Your spirit is asking for help, for safety, for recognition.

And you are not alone in that. There are healers, myself included, who feel called by God, by the universe, by something larger, to find people like you and help you unravel what’s underneath. I’ve never met a migraine that didn’t carry a story of not feeling secure, not feeling seen, not feeling held.

So if no one has said this to you yet: I see you. Your pain has meaning. Your body is communicating, not failing. And there is hope: real, tangible, gentle hope.

You practice intuitive homeopathy… how does intuition guide your practice?

Kath: Intuition is at the very heart of how I practice. I always joke that I’m a bit of a unique bird, sometimes even an enigma, because my connection to people doesn’t start with their symptoms. It starts with what I feel and what I hear beneath the surface.

For me, intuition didn’t suddenly appear in adulthood. It began in childhood, when I would sense things, hear things, feel things that weren’t “explained” but were absolutely real to me. I’ve never fully known if it’s my guides, my guardian angels, or simply a deeper spiritual channel, but something has always whispered, nudged, or shown me what someone needs.

School teaches you the foundations of homeopathy, and those foundations are essential. They’re the structure that keeps you grounded and safe in practice. But once I stepped out of school and into real consultations, something else awakened. I would sit with someone and instantly feel what remedy or direction their system was asking for. I’d ask gentle questions like, “I’m sensing this, does that resonate?” and almost every time, they’d confirm what I already knew without them ever saying it aloud.

There are also moments when I don’t feel or hear anything, and that’s usually when someone isn’t fully present yet, spiritually or emotionally. And that’s okay. Intuition isn’t a performance; it’s a connection. Some people arrive before they’re ready to be seen on that deeper level.

And of course, I’m human. I have days when my intuition feels quieter, usually after nights where the “chatter” is loud and I’ve held myself in a high vibration for too long. As a Taurus, grounding is my medicine. Once I root myself back into my body, everything flows again.

So how does intuition guide my practice? It acts as a guide for absolutely everything. This practice allows me to perceive unspoken thoughts, sense underlying blockages, identify areas needing healing, and understand the emotional and spiritual disharmony behind physical symptoms. It’s the bridge between the remedy and the soul. It’s how I truly meet people where they are, and help them move toward where they’re meant to be.

It seems like you take a holistic approach. How do blood typing and homeopathy weave together?

Kath: The way I practice, blood typing and homeopathy aren’t separate modalities. They’re threads of the same tapestry. For me, holistic living isn’t a trend. It’s a lifestyle, it’s how I breathe, it’s the foundation of everything I offer.

Blood typing gives me a biological imprint of what your system thrives on and what it struggles with. When your nourishment aligns with your type, when you’re feeding your body the right foods, the right minerals, the right energetic signatures, everything shifts. Your inflammation lowers, your digestion steadies, your vitality rises.

When your body properly receives nourishment from food first, the remedies land differently. They go deeper and respond faster. They’re received by a system that’s already being supported instead of one that’s fighting upstream.

So I weave it all together: blood-typed nourishment plans, homeopathy, tissue salts, Bach flowers, and herbal medicine (I’m a master herbalist as well). Each piece has its place. Each piece supports the others. When you feed the physical body correctly, the emotional and energetic layers open more easily, and homeopathy can work at the deeper currents, the root imbalance, the spirit asking to be heard.

That’s the beauty of holistic work: nothing stands alone. Everything connects, and supporting the whole person allows healing to unfold more naturally and profoundly.

Holistic healing

What is one homeopathy resource that you love and recommend to everyone you meet?

Kath: I always tell people that my favourite homeopathy resource isn’t a book or a website. Its other homeopaths. Some practitioners might think I’m wild for saying that, but it’s the truth. Our community is one of the most powerful resources we have.

I encourage everyone to explore Canadians for Homeopathy, learn about the accredited schools like Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine, School of Homeopathy UK ( SOH), Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy, and Academy of Homeopathy Education, and then actually go meet homeopaths and see who you resonate with. Follow practitioners on socials like Paola Brown, ask questions, send emails, be curious.

The homeopathic community is incredibly welcoming. We want people to learn, to ask, and to connect. Our profession grows through conversation, through shared wisdom, through community. So the resource I recommend most is simple: go find us, talk to us, and feel what homeopathy is like through the people who live it every day.

If this resonates, How can someone work with you?

Kath: If we’re meant to meet, we will. The universe has a funny way of lining things up.

My greatest joy in life is this work, these connections, these moments where someone’s spirit nudges them toward healing. My practice is never “full,” and I don’t believe in wait-lists. When someone needs me, the door is open. Honestly, I don’t even have a door.

Whether you’re seeking care, curious about homeopathy, or simply want to be friends and ask questions, you’re welcome in my world.
